Tax credits and benefits for individuals

what is Canada Worker Benifit and who is eligible The Canada Workers Benefit (CWB) is a refundable tax credit provided by the Government of Canada to low-income workers and their families. It is designed to help individuals and families who are working but still living below the poverty line. Eligibility for the Canada Workers Benefit is determined based on a number of factors, including:
  1. Age: You must be at least 19 years old to qualify for the CWB.
  2. Income: Your income must be below a certain threshold to be eligible for the benefit. The exact threshold depends on your family size and your province or territory of residence.
  3. Employment status: You must have earned income from employment to be eligible for the CWB. This can include wages, salaries, and self-employment income.
  4. Citizenship or immigration status: You must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a protected person, or a temporary resident who has lived in Canada for the past 18 months and has a valid work permit.
In addition to these eligibility criteria, you must also file an income tax return each year to receive the Canada Workers Benefit. The amount of the benefit you receive is based on your family income, family size, and province or territory of residence. The benefit is calculated as a percentage of your earned income, with a maximum benefit of $1,355 for single individuals without children and $2,335 for families. The benefit is then paid as a refundable tax credit, which means that if the credit is greater than your income tax owed, you will receive the difference as a payment. Single Individuals can get upto 492 per year and Couple with 2 children can get 992 per year.
